Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi: PM Kisan 23rd Instalment 2026: Payment Date, Eligibility, eKYC, and How to Check Your Status

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has been one of the most direct financial lifelines for India’s farming community since its launch in 2019. Every year, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each, transferred straight into their bank accounts. With the 23rd instalment now released and questions swirling about missed payments and beneficiary status, here is everything farmers need to know to make sure they do not miss out.
What the 23rd Instalment Means for Farmers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi disbursed the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi to over 9.44 crore beneficiaries. That is a significant number, but it also means a portion of registered farmers may still be waiting or may have been left out entirely. If your bank account has not been credited yet, the reason is almost always one of a handful of fixable issues rather than a permanent exclusion.

The scheme continues to operate on a three-times-a-year cycle, with payments typically going out around February, June-July, and October-November. The 24th instalment is expected around June-July 2026, giving farmers who missed the 23rd payment a window to sort out their records before the next cycle.
Why Your Payment May Not Have Come Through
Missing a payment under PM Kisan is frustrating, but it is rarely random. The most common reasons include:
- – eKYC not completed. This is the single biggest reason farmers are dropped from the payment cycle. eKYC is now mandatory, and without it, no instalment will be credited regardless of your eligibility.
- – Incorrect or inactive bank account details. If your account number, IFSC code, or bank branch details are wrong in the system, the transfer will fail.
- – Land records not updated. The scheme requires land ownership to be properly verified in state land records. Discrepancies or pending updates can put payments on hold.
- – Aadhaar not linked to your bank account. Since payments are made through Direct Benefit Transfer, your Aadhaar must be seeded with your bank account.
- – Name mismatch. If the name on your Aadhaar does not match the name in land records or bank records, the system flags the account.
Most of these issues can be resolved by visiting your nearest Common Service Centre or the agriculture department office in your district.
How to Complete eKYC Before the Next Instalment
The government has made eKYC available through three methods, so farmers have options depending on their access to technology and services.
OTP-based eKYC is the simplest. Visit the official PM Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in, click on the eKYC option, enter your Aadhaar number, and authenticate using the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Biometric eKYC is done at a Common Service Centre using a fingerprint scanner. This is the route for farmers whose mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar.
Face authentication is the newest option and can be done through the PM Kisan mobile app using your smartphone’s camera.
Completing eKYC well before the next payment date is strongly advisable. Waiting until the last moment risks processing delays.
How to Check Your Beneficiary Status
Checking whether you are on the active beneficiary list takes only a few minutes.
Go to pmkisan.gov.in and look for the “Beneficiary Status” section on the homepage. Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, or account number, then click “Get Data.” The portal will show your payment history, including which instalments have been credited and whether any are pending or rejected.
If you find that a payment shows as “rejected” or “returned,” the reason is usually displayed alongside the record. That gives you a direct indication of what needs to be fixed.
What to Do If You Are Still Excluded
Farmers who believe they are eligible but have been excluded should first check their status on the portal to identify the specific issue. From there, the next step is visiting the local agriculture office or a Common Service Centre with relevant documents: Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and land ownership papers.
For unresolved complaints, the PM Kisan helpline numbers 155261 and 1800115526 are available, along with the email helpdesk at pmkisan-ict@gov.in.
Looking Ahead to the 24th Instalment
With 9.44 crore farmers already receiving the 23rd payment, the scheme’s reach continues to grow. The 24th instalment is expected in the June-July 2026 window, following the usual schedule. Farmers who missed the 23rd payment due to eKYC or documentation issues have time to correct their records, but acting sooner rather than later is the practical move.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi remains one of the largest direct benefit transfer programmes in the world by volume. Making sure your details are accurate in the system is the only thing standing between you and the next Rs 2,000 payment.
